2006-2007 was yet another tremendous year for ROE's Odyssey of the
Mind program.
10 teams participated at Regionals, 6 advanced to
State, and two teams advanced to World. Congratulations to all
teams for great, creative solutions!
Just after graduating from ROE last May, two ROE 5th
grade teams took off to the Odyssey of the Mind World Final
competition representing Texas at Michigan State University in
East Lansing, MI on May 23-26th, 2007. It is highly
unusual to have more than one team from the same school heading to
World Finals and even more unusual for the teams to place. At the
closing award ceremony, only the top six teams per division and
problem are recognized. After competing against over 60 teams in
their division and problem - teams from all over the USA as well
as foreign teams like Poland, Singapore, & China - our ROE teams
took fifth and first place! What a thrilling and tremendously
successful adventure. Wow!

The Walker/Sengal Team in Around the World in 8 Minutes
problem #3: 5th place in World Finals (Adem Sengal,
Andrew Walker, Alex Riley, Mason Whiteside, Ida Ashfar, Aeriel
Greer, and Marisa Valente)

The Caplan/Juzswik Team in the I'm Only Thinking of You
problem #5: 1st place and World Champions. (Joseph Caplan,
Helen Galli, Jacob Hopkins, Mikaela Juzswik, Sonia Margolin,
Gregory Ross, Daniel Treat)
Thank you to those of you who helped support and send ROE's own
award-winning teams to World. ROE Proud, HISD Proud, Houston Proud
and Texas Proud!
